I paid $4,XXX for a beginner stocks course when I started and why you shouldn’t have to do the same.

Some 5+ years ago I was a little over 20 years old, and I wanted to get started with investing. Coincidentally and unfortunately, it was the dawn of the seminar industry era, the emergence of "gurus", the time where you start to receive a huge amount of Youtube Ads which are downright annoying. Long story short, I paid $4,XXX for a beginner course which now on hindsight, is almost a complete waste of my time and money. It's funny because these are the same guys who preached that we can all start with $0, but charge thousands of dollars for their basic courses.

It was a painful lesson. Don't be mistaken though, I am not sharing this to gain pity points or use it as an emotional lever to convince you or win you over; my intention is to share my mistakes so that you do not make them. There are thousands of people out there who have suffered the same, but never spoken up about it. I used to be one of those guys. Why would I want to embarrass myself by sharing to others how I suffered a $4,XXX loss paying for a basic course? Make no mistake, if the course curriculum contained high quality materials covering intermediate-advanced concepts, then I would gladly pay for it. We gotta give credit when credit is due. The only way to truly know what I am talking about is to sign up for one yourself, but don't be surprised if you spend 75% of the time listening to "feel sorry for me" stories and 25% of the time learning the definition of what options are.

It is almost half a decade ago, I have learnt to suck it up, move on. I am in a better place now, and also I am Mr. Arete now, and I couldn't care less about feeling embarrassed if it means helping others avoid the mistakes which I made. I have also developed my own strategies over the past half decade, made a lot more gains along the way, and truly emerged as a better person.

Mr Arete was officially created in June 2020, but the groundwork was done way back, around 2015. Any option strategies which you currently do, I probably would have done it before; a hundred times more. It is an accumulation of thousands of trades, overseas exposure, connections with finance communities, training materials, analysis videos, hours of execution and - Isolation.

Over the years I practiced tirelessly and religiously, I'd say I enjoy trading options enough to do it for such a long time. I am still a proponent of HODL-ing (Hold On for Dear Life a.k.a buy and hold) stocks for the long term, and I truly believe mastering the art of swing trading options can get you to your financial goals quicker. Most people see them as mutually exclusive and my experiences so far point me to the direction otherwise - doing both.

Creating Mr Arete Options Trading as a platform to help you smash your goals

This platform is dedicated towards helping you understand options better, deepening your domain knowledge, honing you into a trained mathematician with multiple case studies - transforming you from noob to pro.

We will cut through all the nonsense and sieve out everything you need to know to take your options to the next level. And no, we will not simply regurgitate stuff which you can find in textbooks; we will contextualize the scenarios and provide real numbers to quantify and really tackle the questions you have. This covers anything from beginner to advanced option strategies - from your simple buy/sell call/puts to your spreads and strangles and up to your multi-legs iron condors, calendars, and diagonals.

And finally, this platform will motivate and empower you to go after your portfolio goals and stay the course. Building a portfolio is tough, many years of sweat equity, people will not understand why you do it, but you do it anyway. This platform serves as a virtual congregation space for those truly serious about options for the long term.

Godspeed,

Mr. Arete
