Jan'23 Reflections and Results

Starting in 2023 I will make it a point to summarize my monthly options results to demonstrate how I have been generating consistent profits with this skill since 2020. (Although 2020 isn't exactly the best year to truly test the robustness of my options strategies because anyone can make money).

2021 and 2022 are years which I tested and confirmed the robustness of my strategy but did not share results publicly. People in my private channel will know.

Personally I have been more of an "old school" guy -- I write my results and PnL for the month on a piece of paper each month to track my results. It is really not that difficult -- 15 minutes is all it takes. What doesn't get tracked doesn't get measured.

In any case, I will provide the summary, reflections and results and hopefully inspire others like you that this is all worth the effort.

Note: Shared results are majority based off 1 to 2 contracts because everyone has a different portfolio size.

Reflections

It is a decent month, capital needed was small; with less than $5,000 we returned ~$600 USD in profits. I am pretty happy with that.

The market was very volatile this month, oscillating up and down frequently, making this month a very difficult month with no clear direction.

For those who have been reading and following me, you would know that my strategy is self-hedging and therefore relatively stress-free.

No major rookie mistakes made this month; just pure execution, patience and proper risk management. The only thing which I regretted was closing out $MSFT too soon, leaving $2,000 USD profits on the table.
